The Word

All Scripture Is Breathed Out by God

10 pYou, however, have followed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, 11 my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me qat Antioch, rat Iconium, and sat Lystra—which persecutions I endured; yet tfrom them all uthe Lord rescued me. 12 Indeed, all who desire to vlive a godly life in Christ Jesus wwill be persecuted, 13 while xevil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving andybeing deceived. 14 But as for you, zcontinue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom1 you learned it 15 and how afrom childhood you have been acquainted with bthe sacred writings, cwhich are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 dAll Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that ethe man of God2 may be complete, fequipped gfor every good work. (2 Timothy 3;10-17)

The Bible (Basic Instructions Befor Leaving Earth) is not just some other book, but some treat it like it is. The Principle in this books leads to Godly Living. You can't embrace the principle withour embracing God. In order to recieve the blessing of this book, we must embrace the Aurthor of this Boook. We should not approach The Book like and other book. So how do we approach The Book? We should apporach this book with greatreverance and respect. There isno other book like the Bilble in the World.

It's God's Holy Word no book can be compared too it. You can change you habits and temdecies by reading other books and still be a fool. Because the only bok that can truely change your life is the Bible. You will be changed from the indside our. There ain't no other book like the Bible. I know that fora fact. All scriptures is given by inspiration of God. The Book is the voice of God speaking to us. When you read the book you hear the voice of God speaking too you. This Book explains the will of God. The will of GOd will set you free. The Bookis truth and the truth will set you free. It means we can depend on God's word. God is faithfull. Faithfulness is a part of his daily being. God is a rock, a solid rock. His world will stand forever. Everything around us is changing mainly off to sin, including us. The Bible is eternal and never failing. There ain't nothing like this book. God gave us this book and I thank God for The Book. I don't care about what people say about the BIble. I care about what the Bible says to us. God gave it to us to save us, we must be serious about the book. We mush be ready and willing to listen to God. He speak to us through The Book. It is profitable, spritually, and benificial.  He wants us to know right from wrong, Heaven and Hell, and about Eternal Life. The word is good for correcction, and we all need corrections. When we get on the wrong path, we use the words to get back on path. It's God's desire that we keeo our hearts and midns on him. We need to keep our minds on lovely, pure, just, and heavenly things. If we do, we would know how treat everbody with love and respect. We will know how to think. We will move from one degree of grace to another. We should try to read the book all the time. If you want to be a servant of God you must read the book. If you read the book of God, it will equip you for your service.

Judge Self : Being a Person of Good Character

Judge Self really caught my attention (mainly because he called me a success story in a generic sense), and helped me remember where I was.  He started talking about making a difference, which reminded me of the Rachel's Challenge Group we started at my old high school. Rachel was victim of the Columbine Shootings. She was known to be a very sweet person. After her death they found her hand print on the back of one of her dressers, with the words "One day these hands will change the world" inside it. And it just reminds me to stay who I  am and make my own judgement and not follow the crowd opinions, which I find myself doing a lot. For some reason I tend to change my opinions and judgement of some things depending on the people I'm around and that not truly reflecting me. So, in order for my character to shine through, I must make my own judgement. He told us the story of how his father was the first college football coach to recruit a African American athlete, and how much courage it took. Which also remind me that sometimes, when you doing the right things, people just won't like it, but who cares what they think as long as you what you're doing is right. Me and Judge Self had something in common we love helping people. There is one thing I love most in this world (after my momma of course) is helping other, donating my time volunteering, and making others feel good. If I could get a degree for volunteerism I would and I would do it cheerfully. Overall Judge Self was a good guy.

Dr. Calhoun and the STEM Education

When Dr. Calhoun came to speak to us, I wasn't expecting a speech on the STEM Program and how poor our K-12 Curriculum is in United states, under public education. It was some what interesting, the fact that students from 4th - 12th grade show disengagement astonished me.

The One thing that I took from that was that, Yes I am a Honor Student and we have many identities. That I don"t know everything so I am going to have to allow myself to accept ignorance and be okay with it.

Dr. Calhoun was overall a good speaker he was able to keep my attention even though his topic was not my favorite!  But hopefully it only gets better from here.

Values . . . That Work!

So, this past forum we talked Values. Vince started off with some words of advice:

"If you feel like you're dying then you're probably just having anxiety attacks"
"Do what you did to Get here"

So, Dr. Vince put up a list of 25 values or such and told us to pick 10, well that was very difficult for me so I had a long list :
Wisdom
Ethical Standards
Independence
Accomplishment
Courage
Creativity
Dedication
Justice and parity
growth
Integrity
Religiousness
Love
Faith
Health
Friendship
Self-Esteem

As you can see that is way more than ten, but I am a very indecisive person when it comes to pick between two things that are right! After that we split up into groups of  7 or so and we we're to compile a list of 5 values that everyone our group had in common, which was very difficult to do. But we eventually got it together and then every group presented to the class! I wanna say that was the first time I had ever heard Chuck talk, but it made everyone laugh that day!

I am so blessed at the opportunity to get a chance to know all of these people and put these values into place with these people!

Let us Worship the Lord in The beauty of Holiness

Rev. White's sermon Sunday was amazing. I took a few notes:

1 Chronicles 16:23-34

King James Version (KJV)
23 Sing unto the Lord, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.
24 Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations.
25 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods.
26 For all the gods of the people are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.
27 Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place.
28 Give unto the Lord, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength.
29 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
30 Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.
31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The Lord reigneth.
32 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and all that is therein.
33 Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the Lord, because he cometh to judge the earth.
34 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

It is this encounter with God, Worship, that will help you live a victorious life, live better, live efficiently, and have a closer walk with God.

What does it take to please God in our worship? When we come into church we need to give glory to his name. It was God and only God who put regularity in nature. We also give God glory because he is active with his creation, If he didn't intervene in our lives, we would be lost and mostly dead. He didn't create us and just leave us to fiend for ourselves.

This World is secure because God still holds it in the palm of his hands. We ought yo give unto the Lord the glory that is due to his name. When we give Glory to God we are recognizing the importance of God. When we worship God we are giving him weight in our lives.  God wants us to put more weight in our relationship with him, than the other things of the world. If you want to please God with your praise, when you come into his presence you must bring offering. Don't give with strings attached, God loves a cheerful giver. We have to realize that job we have and that scholarship that we received, God allowed us too. So you ought to show how much you appreciate it. If we were to give according to how much God has blessed us we would give way more than 10%. God Give his best for us so we must do the same in return.

But, God doesn't just want our money, If  you really wants to worship Him in the beauty of Holiness, you must give Him yourself. Your heary, souls, desires, thoughts and dreams, when we do we become an instrument of praise. God has called us to surrender our all to him. We must devote our entire life to him, so that we can give him the glory that is due to his name.

First Weekend at Home. . .

So I went back home this weekend to go to church and get a haircut. I ended up only doing one those and when you see me you can tell which one that was. So Friday I went to my high school football game and saw some of my favorite classmates and other people. I got to go to Applebee's again for the first time in a long time. Applebee's is the place to be after a high school football game in limestone county. It's like a social hub or whatever sociology term you would use to describe it.

Saturday I had a four hour choir practice from 12 to 4, which was fun and spiritually as always. I love my church family and I love to sing. I sing with the young adult choir and it was our Sunday to sing, but we also had a second program at  another church and we had to mass so we had to practice with the other choirs too.

Sunday was a great day. I mean it was a great day. I had to great church services and Sunday is always just a great day anyways. There is no other way to explain it.

Memphis . . .

So, i guess I should tell ya'll about my first true honors experience, which would be our trip to Memphis, TN. It was a fun trip. I had a chance to try to attempt to remember everybody's names. Which for the most part I failed horribly at.  The most fun I had on the trip was probably when we were all at the pool just chillin though. It was cool and all. The funniest thing I saw on the trip was, these two female gorrillas messing around at the zoo. It was freaking hilarious. Overall I had a great time on the trip it was cool. Oh yeah I almost forgot to tell ya'll about taht mean black woman who would n't let us ride the trolley back the other, even though she made us get off , shortly, very shortly after, we got off. She was so ratchet, #lol #kml. Roar Lions!!

Fist Honors Forum Meeting: The Basics To Stay in the Honors Program with Dr. Brewton

So I bet random people are reading this and wondering why I started this blog about being in the Honors Program at UNA. Well It's an assignment. I thought the Honors Forum Class was going to be like a study hall, where we got help on our homework, discussed ways to study and stuff like that, but it's not. It's a class where we have a guess speaker come every week and talk to us honor students, which I think I will like better than studying. Every week we  have to blog about that week's speaker, and pretty much tell hat it means to us. Dr. Brewton talked to us on our first day of class about how the Honors Program worked and the things that were necessary to stay in the Honors Program, inlcuding keep a GPA of 3.25 or higher. He was also telling due to past history that the University was going to view grades at the end of the semester and decide if people should be able to keep their scholarship or not, or something in that manner. My favorite part was he discussed the Honors Program Values. These included curiosity, creativity, Intergrity, Achivement, and Servive. He scared some of the class, I believe unintentionally though. After that class some of them were ike "I can't get involved with anything, becasue I don't won't to get too involved and lose my scholarship" I'm not going to lie though I was kinda scared that I might lose my scholarship, because I love to be involve. I would sure be embarrased if I lost my honors scholarship and had to move out of Laffayette!

Meet The Real Eightball . . .

I guess the best way to start a blogg is by introducing yourself. My name Kevin Maurice Mull II. I prefered to be called Maurice though. To be honest I really don't how to properly pronounce my name which is kind of a shame since I'm eighteen. People say it so many ways it funny, I secretly think it's french, so it should be pronounced Morris. Okay, back on topic. I am a freshman at the Univeristy of North Alabama - Roar Lions. I am currently an undecided business major, thinking about going in to Marketing or Entrepenuership. I come from a small community called Tanner, AL, nestled between Athens and Decatur. My family is huge and very close. Family and Church are two things that are very important too me. I am a member of David's Temple Missionary Baptist Church where the Rev. Jothan White is pastor. I love to sing, even if I can't. I graduated from Tanner High School in 2012. I was also the class president. I am a very involved person as you will soon to find out as this blog continues. I am addicted to be involved and in charge of stuff, but that's a conversation for another time.
